Product Description

This magnesium-coil framing nailer from Porter-Cable is a rugged, impressively lightweight piece of equipment, ideal for framers who want the capacity that a coil system offers. The magnesium housing is several pounds lighter than regular models but still offers the durability you'd expect from a job site nailer. Since coil nailers are commonly used for repetitious tasks, a lighter tool is a big plus--especially if you're going to wield it for an entire eight-hour day. Also, its handle is ergonomically designed, and its rubber grip is slip-resistant and comfortable to hold. The nailer has an easy-to-use depth-of-drive adjustment; a powerful, high-performance motor with adjustable exhaust; a refined feed mechanism that includes double cams and guides; and quick-adjust for all nail lengths. This Porter-Cable model accepts standard 15-degree wire-collated coil framing nails from 1-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches. The kit comes with a 1/4-inch NPT air inlet and 1/4-inch male quick coupler (with dust cover), oil for the nailer, wrenches, and an operating manual. --Jonathon Tudor

300 nails is better than 50

I recently purchsed the Porter Cable coil350 and have found that there is a great saving in time not having to reload your nail gun every 50 or so nails. The 300 nail coils also have very few mis fires, when nailing off sheating or decking it is a great time saver. It also is a lot safer when sheating a roof not to have to stop so often to reload. The coil350 has great power and has very few nails not to completely sink the full round head nail.
A HEAVY workhorse

With a full coil of 3.25" nails installed, hauling this tool around is a chore. Nonetheless, I've been through 3 coils thus far and haven't had any misfires. Regarding toe-nailing, the one-shot safety mechanism is a pain in a butt when attempting to activate. The size of the gun limits you.
Regarding nails. I highly suggest you call your local merchants to see if they have coil nails in stock. I reside in the San Fernando Vally of California and drove to 6 places to find nails. Of course, if Amazon would learn to ship their products as stated (as in, coil nails), one wouldn't have such a problem. When shooting flush to the wood with the tank set at 120, the 3.25" nails countersink (on average) of 1/4". This is in reference to the VC coated nails.
Finally, unless you have an inline air filter installed, or auto oiling kit, I highly suggest you squeeze about 6 drops of oil into the air port of the gun before each day's usage.
PS: took about 13 business days to arrive. At the time I ordered, Amazon listed the gun available for shipping in 24 hours. What say you?

This is one of the best framing nailers for the job. Out of the box it looks a little large but is very light. I have used this tool for hours on framing. also was used a few times for a quickly needed work bench on the job. This nailer is a quick change on nail size and ready to go again. A home owner could load this tool on Sunday and shoot it all week long,it is a real sweetheart. I
Replaced Bostitch N86C

I had to have a nailer to use while my N86C was being repaired.
The coil350 filled the bill. In addition you can change it easily between sequential trip and bump trip.

Bostitch brand coil nails worked perfectly.

I would recommend this tool to anyone needing a powerful framing nailer.

Great Gun

When you read a review like this, you probably want to know if there are any glaringly negative points about this product. With very minor exceptions, this is a great gun. Those two exceptions would be the plastic protective shield that can be a slight annoyance when attempting to toenail and the rubber foot. The foot can be removed for easier toenailing. The one on my gun fell off during nailing, so it doesn't provide a problem anymore. Knowing this prior to purchasing would not have changed my mind about which gun to purchase, Porter-Cable as usual designs and produces great quality products.
